Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
